Lip filler on the Upper East Side and across Manhattan

Manhattan has a long list of places offering lip filler, from medical offices off Park Avenue to studios above shops in SoHo. Choosing well has less to do with the address than with who holds the syringe. This page covers the parts of Manhattan people ask about most, then the checks that matter anywhere in the borough.

Lip Filler NYC is a free referral service. We are not a medical provider, clinic or med spa, and we do not perform procedures or employ any providers. There is no Lip Filler NYC office in any of these neighborhoods; a request goes to a provider in New York City who answers it. Nothing on this site is medical advice.

The Upper East Side

Between Fifth Avenue and the East River, roughly from 59th Street up to 96th, the Upper East Side takes in Park Avenue, Madison Avenue, Lenox Hill and Yorkville. Many of the dermatology and plastic surgery practices that appear in Manhattan searches are here, and so are hospitals such as Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital on East 64th Street, part of Northwell’s Lenox Hill.

That density is useful: if you live or work uptown, you can compare more than one provider without crossing the city. It also means a polished lobby on Park Avenue tells you nothing on its own. Run the same checks you would anywhere.

Midtown and Midtown East

From about 34th to 59th Street, around Fifth, Madison and Lexington, Midtown suits people who commute through Grand Central or Penn Station and want an appointment before or after work. If you plan to go back to the office afterward, ask how you are likely to look in the first hours, since swelling and bruising are common.

Flatiron, Union Square and Gramercy

Med spas cluster along Fifth Avenue and Broadway roughly between 14th and 30th Streets, around Flatiron, NoMad, Union Square and Gramercy. Some are medical practices with a spa feel; others are businesses where the injector may not be a physician. The difference is exactly what the next section helps you find out.

Downtown and the West Side

SoHo, NoHo, Tribeca, the West Village, Greenwich Village and Chelsea have their own mix of dermatology offices and med spas, and people from the Financial District often look here too. On the West Side, the Upper West Side runs from 59th to 110th Street, with Harlem and Washington Heights further north. Requests from all of these reach independent providers across the city.

What to check, wherever in Manhattan you go

The licence

New York treats a filler injection as medicine: the person holding the syringe needs a health-care licence, and estheticians and cosmetologists are not allowed to inject. A registered nurse injects under a regimen prescribed by a licensed physician or another licensed provider. Look the injector up by name on the NYSED Office of the Professions verification search.

The setting

New York issues no license for a “med spa”. In January 2026, after inspecting more than 200 appearance-enhancement businesses, the New York Department of State warned consumers that injections are medical procedures and told them to verify the provider’s professional licence. Ask who the supervising physician is and whether they are on site.

The training

The FDA’s advice is to pick someone licensed, with a background in dermatology or plastic surgery, who has training both in injecting filler and in dealing with complications. If a provider mentions a specialty board, ask which one. You can check the American Board of Dermatology’s Derm Search, the American Board of Plastic Surgery’s lookup, or the free Certification Matters search for any of the 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

The product

Ask which FDA-approved lip product will be used and ask to see the sealed, labeled syringe. The FDA warns against filler sold online and against needle-free filler pens.

Risks to raise at the consultation

The FDA lists bruising, redness, swelling, pain and tenderness as common after filler. The most serious risk is gel entering a blood vessel, which can damage skin and, rarely, cause blindness or stroke. A provider who expects to manage that should keep hyaluronidase on hand and tell you which signs mean you call them at once: unusual pain, vision changes, or skin near the lips turning white or blue.

Questions for a Manhattan injector

  1. Who will inject me, and may I see their licence on the NYSED search?
  2. Is a physician supervising, and are they here today?
  3. Which board, if any, has certified you or the supervising physician?
  4. Which FDA-approved product will you use, and how much?
  5. Do you keep hyaluronidase on hand, and have you used it?
  6. What does the fee include, and is there a consultation fee?
  7. When is the check-in, and what happens if I am unhappy?

Before your visit, read how long lip filler lasts and lip filler cost in NYC. If you are fixing filler from somewhere else, start with dissolving lip filler; if you want only a subtle upturn, compare a lip flip.

Coming in from outside the city

People also write from Westchester County, Long Island and northern New Jersey towns such as Hoboken, Jersey City and Fort Lee. Requests go to providers in New York City, so plan for the check-in about two weeks after treatment as well as the first visit. If your provider is licensed in New York, the NYSED search still applies wherever you live.

This site gives general information, not medical advice. Whether lip filler is right for you is for a licensed provider who has examined you to say. In an emergency, call 911.

Before you book, look up the injector’s licence on the NYSED Office of the Professions verification search.

Questions people ask

Is lip filler on the Upper East Side different from elsewhere in Manhattan?

The treatment is the same; what differs is who offers it. The Upper East Side has many medical practices close together, which makes comparing easier. Check the licence and training wherever you go.

Can an esthetician give me lip filler in New York?

No. Under New York rules a filler injection is medical work and calls for a health-care licence. Estheticians and cosmetologists may not inject.

Is a med spa a medical office?

New York does not license med spas as such. Ask who injects, what licence they hold and who the supervising physician is, then check the NYSED search.

Does Lip Filler NYC have an office in Manhattan?

No. Lip Filler NYC is a website, a free referral service with no premises. A provider in the city with their own licence picks up your request.
